What To Expect From Your Intro Sessions

Many people see intro offers as a sneaky way to get you to sign up for expensive contracts and a personal training commitment that you never wanted. Well, rest assured with us that there won’t be anyone asking you to remortgage your house, or guilt-tripping you into spending money on something you may not actually want. No – our intro sessions are our way of allowing you to test the personal training experience.

We get that personal training comes with a price tag, so we want you to try us first and then decide if it is the right fit for you. Personal training works best when there is trust between the trainer and the client, AND when the client is really ready to be there.

If you’re still not sure about signing up for the intro offer, here’s a breakdown of what exactly you can expect from the 8 sessions.

Session 1

intro session 1 - assessment

The first session will be an assessment. It acts as an icebreaker between you and the first of your 2 trainers – your Key 1 trainer.

They’ll take you through a few different exercises and ask some important questions to get a better sense of who you are.

They will also assess how well your joints move through their range of motion; they’ll observe how comfortable you are with different weights, and begin the conversation about your lifestyle habits and nutrition. By the end of the first session, you’ll likely have a few bits of information that you can take home and start putting into practice.

Session 2

intro session 2 - first workout

The second session is where the real workouts begin. After the first session and reviewing your consultation info, the trainer will have the necessary info to put together a program for you.

Take this session to ask questions about specific exercises and let your trainer know what you’ve been doing outside of the gym to support the efforts in the gym.

If you haven’t been able to make any lifestyle changes yet, ask your trainer for some guidance. They see people from all walks of life all day long and have a plethora of solutions for you to start making lifestyle changes that suit your current lifestyle. After all – trying to make too big of a change usually doesn’t go so well. The expertise of your trainer will come through as they help you to find the changes or modifications that are sustainable.

Session 3-5

Over the next few sessions, you’ll meet your second trainer – your Key 2 trainer. Having a second trainer will give you more flexibility with scheduling and give you access to more resources to help you along your fitness journey.

It also gives you another friendly face in the gym, making the gym a more familiar and inviting place to be.

By around the 4th or 5th session, you should have a pretty good idea of how you would like to proceed. Some may realize that they’re not quite ready for the commitment of personal training – and that’s okay. We’ll always be here when you are ready. If you decide not to continue, you still get to finish the 8 sessions. This is simply the time that most people decide to continue or not.

For those of you who do choose to continue, you have 3 more sessions to figure out with your trainer what plan of action will work best for you moving forward.

Session 6-8

These final few sessions are where you take everything you’ve learned from the first 5 sessions and really start to push yourself.

Try increasing the intensity or asking for progressions for different exercises. At this point, you’ll be used to the routine of the sessions. You may have even made a few friends in the gym if you’ve maintained a consistent schedule.

In your final session, you’ll be retaking measurements to see what you’ve been able to achieve in the intro offer. These can be body measurements if your goal is based on body measurements, like weight and inches off the waist. If you have more qualitative goals, like more energy, there will be a discussion about the progress you’ve made with those goals as well.

If you decided it wasn’t the time to continue with personal training, as we said before – that’s okay. We’ll always be here when you are ready to make personal training part of your lifestyle.

If you have decided that you’re going to continue, make sure to use the final few sessions to really articulate what you hope to achieve in 6-12 months of personal training. Again – the more information and detail the better.

From session 1 to session 8 our goal is to help educate, and to provide you with the resources to get you started. We understand the transformative power of personal training and the self-awareness and strength it can unlock. The intro sessions give us a chance to share that information with as many of you as possible. The intro sessions allow you to take the first step towards your health goals with someone there to guide you.
