Ready to take on the world

It’s fair to say that anyone who has followed the P90X program is no slouch when it comes to fitness.

This is an intensive home workout program that combines strength training and cardio. For 40-year-old Nathan Keey, it was a good way to stay active around a busy job as an IT sales executive. He was never a fan of group exercise classes at one of the big chain gyms, or hitting the weight room by himself.

Working out from home with a program, he thought, was the best way to get the results he wanted, and fit fitness around work and a young family.

It was a friend who suggested he take advantage of Free Form Fitness’s eight sessions for $96 and give personal training a try. His initial skepticism didn’t last long.

“I just fell in love with it,” he said. “You’ll never push yourself like you will with a trainer, bottom line. You’ll never get the same results as you do when you have someone to correct your technique and give you motivation.”

While he considered himself to be “pretty healthy” when he first came to FFF in November 2014, Nathan quickly learned what he was missing with his home-based fitness program. The P90X program focused heavily on the upper body and not so much on the lower body. But working those big muscles in the legs is key to increasing fat burn.

“The weight I can lift now in a squat is five times what it was before,” Nathan said. “You can’t do that working out at home. I do a leg day once a week. It’s something a lot of men neglect.”

These days, Nathan works with trainer Tyler Prieur. Tyler is always fine-tuning Nathan’s workout routine, to meet his goals to cut fat and build strength and lean muscle through his entire body.

“Every month is a different routine, a different goal,” Nathan said. “We mix it up and make it fun. The more you get to know your trainer, the better they understand how much they can push you and tailor the training to meet your goals.”

Working with a personal trainer is a substantial investment, but the results speak for themselves. Nathan says FFF is more economical and offers greater value in terms of results than the personal training services he and his wife had investigated with the big fitness chains.

In fact, his wife is now an FFF client, too.

“I always say my most productive days at work are the two days a week I work out at FFF,” Nathan said. “It’s the best start to my day. It boosts my energy, motivation and confidence. I just feel better about myself and ready to take on the world.”
