“I thought about it and I realized I was paying $16 to 20 for one yoga session,” explained Ashley a 33-year-old public servant, “walking home from work and seeing the FFF sign day after day it hit, me—the introductory offer of 8 sessions for $96 was a really good deal.”

That’s how Ashley explained her thought process when she initially signed up with Free Form Fitness at our Byward Market in October of 2016. Ashley has always been active from a young age. Running, cycling and yoga have kept her fit but she was looking to take another step forward and she found that with Free Form Fitness.

“I’ve always been active but the structure and accountability that I got with Luzia really made a big difference.”

After Ashley finished the introductory sessions she took the Christmas holidays to decide what she was going to do next. She decided to do one session a week with Luzia every Monday and then workout on her own throughout the week.

Within the first month Ashley could feel difference, “Luzia is relentless with me and pushes me when I don’t think I can complete a work out. The walk home can be a struggle. But within a month I could start to feel a difference in my body and I felt good in my clothes.”

Feeling good was an added bonus to Ashley’s training. The main goal was to get ready for four days of hiking the Inca trail in Peru.

“You’d think that we would have worked mostly lower-body to prepare for a hiking trip but Luzia had me working on my core and upper body strength. It’s impossible to recreate the high altitude conditions of the Andes but having a strong upper-body and core is really important when you’re carrying a pack for four days.”

Ashley also took advantage of Free Form Fitness’s association with Healthy Meal Plan to make sure her diet complemented her workouts.

“It’s really handy and convenient, they deliver right to your door and you don’t have to worry about planning your meals and it’s more than enough food.”

In May, Ashley went on her trip to Peru and it was one of the most rewarding and empowering experiences of her life.

“I completed the four day trek to Machu Picchu despite having hit the wall on the last day. I even woke up the following morning and did an additional day-long hike to Huayna Picchu in the pouring rain! It’s an incredible feeling to push yourself to your limits. Although, I must say, I have a hard time looking at stairs since the trip.”

Now that one adventure is complete Ashley is still working out with Luzia on Monday’s and is planning out her next one.
