Is Sport Specific Training Necessary?
Of course sport specific training is needed for the top level athlete in their respective sports to be at the top of their game. But does the everyday athlete need this type of training as well?
The answer is no, it is not necessary. BUT, it will give you an edge.
Not to say that regular training is not beneficial to any sport you engage in. A well rounded fitness program will give you an edge in anything physically challenging. The problem is that most fitness programs are not well rounded, they focus on one or two areas of fitness and ignore the rest fot he most part.
So basically a well rounded program will give you an edge if you are not already doing this. If you are already doing this then yes a sport specific program can give you an added edge to your game.
